Inside the entrance to the memorial, the Inscription Hall is a monumental, lit wall of stone inscribed with a powerful quote from Theodore Roosevelt, the City’s first Police Commissioner, describing the sacrifice of one’s life for a higher purpose.
"No man is worth his salt who is not ready at all times to risk
his well-being, to risk his body, to risk his life, in a great cause."
-Theodore Roosevelt
